In continuing preparations for its groundbreaking 2011 New Zealand Convention and enhancing member participation, the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW) has hired Association Acumen to manage professional services and benefits for the Society’s more than 1,200 members. The Society, known as “Travel’s Most Trusted Voices,” officially announced Acumen’s hiring at SATW’s winter Board meeting in San Diego.
Association Acumen will provide SATW financial management, Board and committee coordination, convention and program management, membership services, marketing and communications, bylaw implementation, policies and procedures maintenance, and strategy development.
“Our members greatly appreciate the Society’s networking and professional development opportunities, so it’s important we maintain an organized focus as an association,” said SATW President Dale Leatherman. “SATW is confident that Acumen’s services will help manage our membership responsibilities, secure business development opportunities, and continue to grow the Society’s presence in smart and fiscally-sound ways.”
“The addition of SATW as a client provides greater depth to Association Acumen,” said Acumen President and owner Gail Bast. “SATW is the premier travel and tourism professional association. We look forward to adding a different dynamic to our firm and ultimately expanding the strong professional services we offer our clients.”
SATW’s membership includes writers, editors, photographers, journalists, filmmakers, and communications professionals who specialize in the travel industry. SATW promotes responsible journalism, provides professional support and development for its members, and encourages the conservation and preservation of travel resources worldwide.
