Wyndham Hotel Group recently introduced the three-part course, developed with Performance Media Group of Westhampton, N.J., to help travel agents sell more room-nights by matching their clients with the Wyndham products that best meet their needs.
'The Wyndham brand has undergone a significant transformation in the past three years with new locations, innovative products and services and an enhanced Wyndham ByRequest(R) loyalty program,' said Peter Strebel, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts president. 'We want to educate agents about our new direction and values and reward them with a comfortable Wyndham Smart Chair they can use to work from home.'
Agents who review three course segments - Meeting the Needs of Today's Travelers, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts and Selling Wyndham Hotels and Resorts - and successfully complete questionnaires that follow each segment will be certified and qualify for the Wyndham Smart Chair monthly sweepstakes.
Each chapter of the Wyndham Hotels and Resorts Travel Agent Academy describes various aspects of the brand. Occasional Did You Know links reveal helpful tips including how 'Gen Xers' spend their money.
Agents are asked to complete a multiple-choice quiz at the end of each segment to test their understanding as part of the certification process. Upon successful completion of the tests, agents receive Wyndham Hotels and Resorts Travel Agent Academy certification, complete with a diploma.
The Wyndham Smart Chair, created exclusively for the brand by the iconic Michael Graves Design Group of Princeton, N.J., currently is being installed in Wyndham guest rooms nationwide. Designed for work or play, the unique combination lounge chair and workstation features a built-in power source, Internet port, pivoting tables and document storage space.
'We're making a renewed commitment to travel agent education with the launch of this program,' said Strebel. 'In-depth knowledge of the Wyndham brand and its personalized services, amenities and casual style will help travel agents better fulfill the expectations of their clients by selecting the right hotels for business and leisure travel and group functions.'
Online travel agent training also is available for Wyndham Hotel Group's Wingate(R) by Wyndham and Ramada(R) lodging brands. Agents who 'graduate' from those programs receive two Continuing Education Units and earn $25 gift certificates for every five bookings of those respective brands.
