Colorado Hotel & Lodging Association launches Quarterly Trends Report |
|
In an effort to accurately represent their member properties, the Colorado Hotel & Lodging Association (CH&LA) has launched a Quarterly Trends Report. Each quarter, CH&LA surveys its 470 member properties from mountain resort to bed and breakfast to city independent and chain hotels in Colorado. The survey covers pertinent topics, such as job and employment trends, operational changes and booking outlooks. |
CH&LA has an excellent built-in resource for identifying hospitality industry trends specific to Colorado, as we have over 470 member properties. That‚s more than 40,000 guestrooms throughout the entire state!‰ said Ilene Kamsler, president of CH&LA. „Our hope is to provide media and industry professionals with accurate hospitality trends, in turn supplying the general public valuable information regarding tourism and industry professionals with the tools they need to perform future business.‰
The first CH&LA Quarterly Trends Report addresses five important subjects pertinent to the hospitality industry: rising gas prices, room rates and occupancy, creating jobs, and the effect of the recent NBA All-Star Weekend in Denver. Some interesting trends emerged from the first quarter. For example, in past years, properties would add transportation surcharges to offset the rise in gas prices. CH&LA members indicated by 59.1 percent that they have no surcharge planned despite the rocketing gas prices. Additionally, survey results indicated a rise (now 35.5 percent) in the discount transient segment of market production. This seems to reflect an ever-growing trend toward book individual travel via the web, using such discount sites as Orbitz or Travelocity.
The first quarter survey results are as follows:
