Sustainable Travel International has announced the launch of its Canada operations, in an effort to enhance the organization's mission to collaborate with destinations, business and travellers to implement innovative sustainable tourism development and conservation solutions that protect the environment, support adaptation to climate change, maintain sense of place, and generate economic benefits.
South Sardinia is the first Mediterranean destination to complete the Global Sustainable Tourism Council's (GSTC) Early Adopters Program to test its new Criteria and Indicators for Destinations. The assessment was one of the first initiatives of Visit South Sardinia, a new DMO formed by five forward-thinking municipalities: Cagliari, Domus de Maria, Muravera, Pula, and Villasimius.
Following the conclusion, on Friday 5 October, of the ICAO 38th Assembly meeting in Montreal, Canada, the Director General of the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA), Mr. Andrew Herdman, welcomed the decision reached by governments to proceed with the development of a global market based measure addressing emissions from international aviation.
Major Progress on Environment, Safety, Security, Operations and Regulation

As the negotiations at ICAO continue for a deal to put in place a global system to reduce airline emissions, the airport industry today released an update on its own voluntary climate change initiative, Airport Carbon Accreditation.
The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), in collaboration with the ASEAN-China Centre and the Jiuzhaigou National Park Administration, will organise the 3rd China Responsible Tourism Forum (CRTF) on September 12, 2013 at the Sheraton Hotel, Jiuzhaigou Sichuan, China.
