Coca-Cola (Japan) Co. said Thursday that it will release a beverage product, which tastes like beer but has almost no alcoholic content, in Japan in late March.
The product, called Sky Malt, will be priced at 136 yen for a 350- milliliter can.
It contains less than 0.1 pct of alcohol but will be sold only over the counter to consumers aged 20 or older. In Japan, drinking is not allowed by law for those aged 19 or younger.
In late May, Coca-Cola (Japan) will also launch another drink, which is virtually free of alcohol but has the taste of chuhai, a cocktail based on "shochu" Japanese distilled spirit. The price will be set at 130 yen for a 350-milliliter can.
