The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA)—the voice of the global business travel industry – hosted its second annual GBTA Energy, Resources & Marine Travel Symposium 2014 – Rio on March 31 at the Hotel Sofitel Copacabana Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. More than 100 business travel professionals registered for the event from Brasil, the United States and Latin America. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in educational sessions and an expanded trade show to improve their industry knowledge and obtain ideas about corporate travel management in this important segment related to energy resources.
"This symposium, in only its second year, has proven to be a useful education tool for buyers and suppliers alike engaged in the energy, resource and marine segment in GBTA Brasil,” said Wellington Costa, GBTA’s Regional Director for Brasil. “Brasil has become an excellent market for business travel professionals and this symposium gave attendees the opportunity to expand their knowledge and networks within the industry."
This year's GBTA Energy, Resources & Marine Travel Symposium 2014 – Rio featured well attended panel sessions focused on adding value to airline agreements; B2B and improving and sustaining the hotel management process; and personnel transportation logistics. It also featured a luncheon session presentation from Rana Walker, social media evangelist and co-founder of GR&AT Management Consulting, reflecting on the growth of social media in Latin America, especially the highest rate of engagement currently found in Brasil.
