The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA announced that Michael W. McCormick, GBTA executive director and COO, has been named a member of the U.S. Travel and Tourism Advisory Board. As a new member, he joins the Board which serves as the advisory body to the Secretary of Commerce on matters relating to the travel and tourism industry in the United States.
"I am honored to represent GBTA on the U.S. Travel and Tourism Advisory Board and bring the voice of the business travel industry to the U.S. Department of Commerce," said Michael W. McCormick, GBTA executive director and COO. "It is important that our nation's travel-related policies and programs work to shore up the nation's transportation infrastructure. Business travel is an economic driver that is critical to driving growth in the broader economy."
Board members represent a broad cross-section of the industry, including transportation services, financial services, and hotels and restaurants, as well as a mix of firms from across the country. According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Board provides advice that helps the government prioritize the travel and tourism policies that will contribute to growth, including enhanced visa issuance and travel facilitation, increased investment in transportation infrastructure, and research for decision-making.
