Brian O’connor Named Chairman of CLIA Trade Relations & Sales Committee

  • CLIA Vice President of North American Sales for Princess Cruises and Cunard Line to Head Committee Aimed at Benefitting CLIA Member Agents

    Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has announced that Brian O’Connor, Vice President, Sales (North America) for Princess Cruises and Cunard Line, will take the role of Chairman of the CLIA Trade Relations & Sales Committee effective immediately. He succeeds Camille Olivere, Senior Vice President Sales, Americas for Norwegian Cruise Line, who completed her service leading the committee at the end of 2013.   

    Brian O’Connor, New Chairman of the CLIA Trade Relations & Sales Committee and Vice President, Sales (North America) for Princess Cruises and Cunard LineIn this role O’Connor will lead a committee of his peers and work closely with Dwain Wall, CLIA’s Senior Vice President, Agency and Trade Relations to provide counsel, with regards to CLIA travel agent relations, training programs, research and cruise distribution membership initiatives.  The CLIA Trade Relations & Sales Committee consists of senior marketing and sales executives from member cruise lines. CLIA has 61 cruise line members, more than 200 Executive Partners and 13,500 travel agency members representing 50,000 travel agent members in North America, UK & Ireland and Australasia.

    “The importance of CLIA member travel agents and their relationship with our CLIA member cruise lines is crucial to the cruise industry and this committee,” says Dwain Wall, CTC, CLIA Senior Vice President, Agency and Trade Relations. “Camille Olivere has done much to strengthen this relationship, and I know Brian will continue her excellent work. The strong leadership that Brian will bring to the role, as well as his outstanding marketing acumen and depth of industry knowledge will undoubtedly prove invaluable as CLIA continues to raise the bar on its education, marketing and the overall relationship with our member agents.”

    O’Connor serves as Vice President, Sales (North America) for Princess Cruises and Cunard Line.  He provides executive leadership and oversees the development of programs to meet the annual sales goals for each brand. He manages the field sales team that represents both cruise lines to travel retailers in the United States and Canada. He also provides strategic marketing guidance to help them increase their cruise business. O’Connor previously served as Director, Marketing & Public Relations for Cunard Line having launched Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth.  He joined the company in 2006.

    O’Connor began his career in sales & marketing with Hilton Hotels Corporation in 1991 having worked on property and at the world headquarters. From 1996-1998 he served as Senior Brand Marketing Manager leading the HILTON brand identity redesign and global implementation. Prior to joining Cunard Line he served as Director, Public Relations at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.
