With Valentine's Day right around the corner, Hotwire.com today released findings from its third annual American Travel Behavior Survey, conducted online in October 2013 on behalf of Hotwire by Harris Interactive among over 2,000 U.S. adults ages 18 and older. According to the survey, 42.3 million American adults (18 percent) reported that they'd prefer to plan a weekend trip around Valentine's Day, more than any other listed "non-major1" holiday. Luckily, Valentine's Day falls on the Friday before President's Day this year, creating the perfect opportunity for a long weekend escape. To guide these lovebirds, the experts at Hotwire have revealed 10 of the most sought-after spots for significant others taking a romantic respite.

"Our personal relationships can often take a backseat to the stressors of daily life, but something as simple as a weekend trip can help bring many of us back together," said Henrik Kjellberg, president of The Hotwire Group. "To me, vacations help rejuvenate relationships because you're able to relax and enjoy your time with one another. It's not often that Valentine's Day falls right before the three-day weekend, and with the prices we're seeing, travelers can rest assured that a getaway is more affordable than they think."
