  • Adventure Travel Trade Association Addressing the demand by the global tourism trade for in-person, regional connections, the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) has responded by creating an enhanced series of facilitated regional gatherings called 'AdventureConnect.'

These events are designed to stimulate increased business-to-business relationship building, provide opportunities for professional development, education and adventure activity exposure thus increasing the depth of ATTA’s previous once-a-year regional meetings.

Serving as the adventure tourism industry’s hub and facilitator for nurturing responsible, profitable businesses and destinations worldwide since 2004, the ATTA’s new AdventureConnect events offer adventure travel communities a chance to connect, network and grow their individual businesses within their regional community. The initiative, which complements its already thriving online digital community, directly supports the ATTA overarching mission to responsibly grow the adventure tourism industry.

According to Mr. Shannon Stowell, president of the ATTA, “As we see our industry grow it has become increasingly obvious that focused attention on issues on a regional perspective is not only of interest to our members but also directly allows us to help the global adventure travel industry community as a whole.”

The AdventureConnect events will be offered in cities throughout the United States as well as in countries around the world including Germany, Mexico and the United Kingdom. Supporting the ATTA in this effort will be regional advocates and representatives who will bring the local communities together. In addition, the ATTA team who travels the world attending industry events, will hold AdventureConnect events in collaboration with conferences such as Outdoor Retailer in Salt Lake City, Utah; Fitur in Madrid, Spain; and ITB in Berlin, Germany.  A current list of AdventureConnect events are available online.

Since 2005, the ATTA has hosted the annual Adventure Travel World Summit, a premier networking and educational event for the adventure travel industry. In 2012, over 600 industry influencers from 60 countries attended the Summit in Lucerne, Switzerland.
