  • Join Dr. Susan Guyette, Sustainable Travel International's Cultural Tourism Advisor and author of new book Sustainable Cultural Tourism, on Thursday November 15th at 12:00pm EST for a seminar introducing a value-based planning and development method for cultural tourism.

Cultural tourism of the future will foster authenticity and learning experiences through small-scale, linked enterprise networks.

Join Dr. Susan Guyette, author of the new book Sustainable Cultural Tourism, for a seminar introducing a value-based planning and development method for cultural tourism from within the community. Through planning and sustainable practices, tourism can support earned livelihood, cultural retention, and resource protection.

Sustainability is possible through a worldview that respects cultural values and natural cycles, rather than a linear, profit-based economic perspective. Dr. Guyette's approach emphasizes a cyclical process of community-based evaluation and redirection, with indigenous methodology demonstrating the way forward.

About the Presenter: Susan Guyette, Ph.D. (Métis – Micmac and Acadian French) has 25 years of direct experience working with indigenous and rural communities in cultural tourism, as well as cultural centers and museums. She is an award-winning author – prior books include Sustainable Cultural Tourism: Small-Scale Solutions; Planning for Balanced Development: A Guide for Rural and Native American Communities, the co-author of Zen Birding: Connect in Nature, and the author of several texts for American Indian Studies. She is the owner of Santa Fe Planning & Research in New Mexico (USA) and the Executive Director of the organization Cultural Resilience.
