Join Senior Advisor, Destination Management Seleni Matus for an in-depth look at Sustainable Travel International's signature next-generation assessment tool, the Rapid Sustainable Destination Diagnostic. Seleni will be joined by representatives of the Mesoamerican Reef Tourism Initiative (MARTI), who will share their recent experiences with the innovative methodology.
Piloted in Cape Verde, Cozumel, Tunisia and Turkey over the course of the last two years, the RDD is designed to enable focused assessment of a destination’s performance around the key elements of sustainability management. The rapid assessment provides the travel trade and other key stakeholders with a snapshot of the destination's current status on its pathway to sustainability.
The assessment also helps destination managers identify and prioritize destination sustainability issues, while engaging stakeholders to identify possible interventions, and assess local capacity for action.
In this presentation, we'll provide an overview of the tool, focusing on what makes this approach unique. We'll review how the process can benefit destination decision makers and a wide range of stakeholders as they plan for the future while operating in increasingly challenging environments.
We'll also share recent examples of the Rapid Sustainable Destination Diagnostic in action, and will provide a brief overview of the related Destination Sustainability Marketing Plug-In, which was designed for destination marketers.
A 15-20 minute Q&A will follow the initial presentations. All registrants will receive a copy of the presentation afterward, regardless of ability to attend live.
