  • Travel Industry Association Dependent on an efficient and secure air travel process, the members of the Travel Industry Association and Travel Business Roundtable today applauded President Bush's announcement that the Federal Aviation Administration and Department of Defense will take steps to reduce air traffic congestion and delays at airports during the holiday travel season.

'President Bush's attention is welcome news, and recognition of the comprehensive approach that our government must take to improve the air travel experience on a permanent basis,' said Roger Dow, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Travel Industry Association. 'An efficient and secure air travel process is critical to the success of America's hotels, restaurants, theme parks and other members of the travel community.'

Added Jonathan M. Tisch, Chairman of the Travel Business Roundtable and Chairman and CEO of Loews Hotels: 'Our federal government is demonstrating its ability to create efficiencies in our nation's airways and at its gateways. The free flow of travel is vital to our nation's economy, and we hope the President's focus on these issues will continue throughout the duration of his administration.'

The Travel Business Roundtable and the Travel Industry Association recently announced their intent to combine forces in large part because of rising concerns over the domestic travel process.
