UNWTO, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and African Tourism Ministers have committed to advancing the tourism sectors support in the global fight against the surge in poaching that is threatening one of Africas main tourism resources - its unique wildlife and biodiversity. UNWTO is supporting Qatar to implement its new tourism strategy through collaboration in the areas of legislation, institutional strengthening, statistics, marketing and capacity building. During an official visit to the country, where he met H.E. Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister of Qatar and attended the launch of Qatars Tourism Strategy, UNWTO Secretary-General, Taleb Rifai welcomed the high priority afforded to the tourism sector in Qatar (22-25 February 2014).
South African Airways (SAA) has announced that it is resuming its popular non-stop flights between Johannesburg, South Africa, and New York JFK International Airport. The non-stop flight will resume on March 9th, nearly three weeks ahead of its original schedule of March 28th.
