Volaris (NYSE: VLRS and BMV: VOLAR) announced today the carrier's arrival to New York City, with the opening of non-stop service to Guadalajara, Jalisco, unveiled as part of Volaris' connectivity plan.
For the month of June 2015, Copa Holdings' system-wide passenger traffic (RPM) decreased 3.4% year over year, while capacity increased 3.9%. As a result, system load factor for June 2015 was 72.0%, a 5.4 percentage point decrease when compared to June 2014.
Expanded service includes new flights to Mexico City International Airport (MEX); General Rafael Buelna International Airport (MZT) in Mazatlan, Mexico; Curacao International Airport (CUR); Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay, Jamaica; Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ); Gregorio Luperon International Airport (POP) in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; and Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO) in Quito, Ecuador, pending regulatory approvals.
During the month of June 2015, Volaris continued its capacity discipline in the domestic market and strong growth in the international market. Total capacity as measured in Available Seat Miles (ASMs) for the month of June increased by 20.9% year over year, and total passengers were 991 thousand, an increase of 23.7% year over year.
