Nassau/Paradise Island welcomed 74, 361 stopover visitors during the month of January, a hike of 13% over arrivals in 2014. Hotel performance also showed significant improvements with a 7% increase in occupancy levels. The average daily hotel rate in January increased by 11% and total room revenues for large hotels reached a 13% increase of over January 2014 levels.
Sunwing Airlines is re-introducing direct flights from Val-d'Or to Varadero and also launching a new direct flight from Val-d'Or to Holguin. Sunwing is the only Canadian tour operator to offer these routes from the Val-d'Or airport. The new routes will operate on Mondays, beginning December 21, to Varadero and on Tuesdays, beginning December 22, to Holguin.

Sunwing Vacations announced that it will be offering a direct service from Kelowna to the popular Cuban vacation destination of Varadero for the first time this winter. Departing weekly on Fridays between December 18, 2015 and April 15, 2016, the new flight service will enable residents of Kelowna to experience some of Sunwing's new and exclusive resorts.
Effective immediately, Seaborne's codeshare partnership with American Airlines has been expanded to include both St. Thomas and St. Croix. Customers booking Seaborne travel on the American Airlines website or through a travel agent, can now accrue AAdvantage miles flying between the St. Thomas and St. Croix airports or to and from San Juan, Puerto Rico from both islands.
